(C)In order to better understand the use of prism products, we need to understand the main types of optical prisms:
Dispersion prism:
Suitable for decomposing the composition of light, so that the light presents the color of the original spectrum. Because the refractive index is related to the frequency of light, when white light mixed with various frequencies enters the prism, different frequencies are deflected to different degrees. Blue light decelerates more than red light, so it deflects more than red light.
For example: Triangular prism, Abbe prism, Behring-Broca prism, Amish prism.
Reflecting prisms:
Reflecting prisms are used to reflect light, such as reflective telescopes.
For example: Penta prism, Puro prism, Puro-Abbe prism, Abbe-Kone prism, Schmidt-Biehan prism, Duff prism, dichroic prism, Amish roof prism.
Polarizing prism:
Polarizing prism can decompose light to produce different polarized light. Traditionally, this prism material is made of birefringent crystals.
For example: Nicol prism, Wollaston prism, Rochon prism, Glan-Foucault prism, Glan-Taylor prism, Glan-Thompson prism.
